The Village so far

The map of the Village changes every day and here's a log for the Village archives. There is so much that we can build and we'd like to hear from our community: what features would you like to see next? Get in touch and let us know.

Changelog

What we've built

  1. v0.8.0

The village gets a new face

A redesign across the whole site: a reworked home page, three typefaces working as one, and a single editorial look that carries from the front page through to every listing.

  2. v0.7.2

The directory reads like an index

Browse is rebuilt as one scannable column, with a line on every entry telling you when it runs: the date of an event, the weeks of a camp, the schedule of a class.

  3. v0.7.1

    Directions to the door

Every listing with an address now offers directions in a tap, in Google Maps or Waze, so you can find your way without copying anything out.

  4. v0.7.0

A clearer way to post a notice

The submission form is rebuilt to prevent mistakes: it reveals one step at a time, asks the right questions for camps, classes and events, handles proper pricing, and shows a live preview of your listing as you type.

  5. v0.6.0

    We start counting footfall

Gentle, private analytics: how many parents view and reach out to each listing, so we learn which activities families love.

  6. v0.5.2

    Every listing gets an address

Each provider now has its own page: a single shareable link, ready to drop into any group chat with a clean preview.

  7. v0.5.1

    A table is set

A Food category joins the directory, for the snack and treat side of village life.

  8. v0.5.0

    The village calendar

Dated events get a "Coming up" rail on the home page and quietly retire the day after they happen, so nothing goes stale.

  9. v0.4.0

    A town square

A reworked home and navigation, a proper Contact page, and listing cards you can open in place to read more.

  10. v0.3.1

    The village gets its colours

A considered look: the warm "Slate and Butter" palette and an editorial typeface.

  11. v0.3.0

    Summer comes to the village

Summer camps join classes, events and places as a listing of their own.

  12. v0.2.0

    Signposts at every corner

Filters and tidy categories, so you can find activities by area and type.

  13. v0.1.1

    A noticeboard goes up

Anyone can submit a listing, and every single one is reviewed by hand before it appears.

  14. v0.1.0

    The village gates open

The directory goes live: browse local activities and contact providers directly.

Ideas

Where we're headed

  1. Villagers get their own keys

Save your favourites with a simple sign in, no passwords to remember.

  2. Parent-approved, for real

Recommendations that come from parents themselves, not just our stamp.

  3. What's popular this week

A "trending" view, once enough of us are walking the same paths.

  4. A spot on the high street

Providers can feature a listing: a handful of premium slots, never ads.

  5. A few honest words

    Light reviews from verified parents.

  6. RSVP at the door

Reserve a place in a tap, if that's what you tell us you need.

  7. New neighbourhoods

Beyond our first streets: more of Dubai, then maybe further afield.

  8. Skills for life

The unusual stuff: camping, kayaking, changing a tyre. Things every kid should get to try.
